How misery is normalized and how much it’s costing your time.
Loops are one of the most critical types of existence. They can either change you into a positive energy field or destroy you in a very subtle way. In today’s discussion, I’m going to talk about how insanely “internet misery” has become a normal and relatable act.
The power of “us.”
Surfing through the reels can be enjoyable. But relating to them is what makes us hooked on the content. When something we see speaks our language, we automatically tie our hearts to it. Whenever social media is showing you that someone is also wasting time like you are doing, you feel oddly seen, and on top of that, if your closest friend sends you the exact video with “hey look it’s us!” — what’s there more to do?
The negative ecstasy of getting acknowledged that wasting time is common will destroy you in a very, very subtle but impactful way. This normalization of “everyone is miserable” is actually gulping up your dream life.
Everyone is just like me.
No. As harsh as it sounds, everyone is not like you. Some of them are utilizing their time to express themselves, while you are only relating to them while benefiting them. The only thing that’s happening to you now you are trauma bonding with your algorithm through relatable pain and misery.
We are all suffering; it’s okay to take a break.
You are on a break. A break that was supposed to restore your energy, but instead, it’s resonating with the existing tiredness of your body. You might have achieved something in your day while being burned out, and after coming on social media, you see reels about how “nothing really matters.” And unfortunately, you let your screen manipulate you so that your achievement didn’t matter, and it’s okay to take a break (from the productivity you just experienced!)
As much as it’s twisted and deep, there are ways to get out. And I am not going to tell you to through your phone away. The phrase that goes “you are the mix of the people who are around you” is true. Be near people who spark good positivity in you. Who thinks your little achievements aren’t little, and most importantly, who would bring the urge in you to wake up the next morning. In addition to these, setting up your algorithm to positivity is important. Search for the particular topic that excites you, inspires you. Let that play for at least 20 times. Watch similar stuff a lot, repeat it until you open your application, and see the change in front of you.
And no, I wasn’t just talking about the algorithm, you know? Life was given as a blessing to us because we deserve to feel it.
