The blank page with words.

The moments of helplessness keep multiplying when you don’t know what to say when your friend is not having a nice time. When you can offer nothing but “I wish I knew what to tell you.” From a perspective of someone who spent a crazy amount of times being the friend who “knows exactly what to say,” these are my words to you, wishing that these words can help you too.

All my life, I heard a lot of compliments about knowing the right words or being good with words. Making friends online was comparatively easier for me because of how I would fetch the right words for them most of the time. And now I’ll tell you some of those in case you’re a friend who wants to try their best to be for their friend for them too.

This sounds cliché, but 90% of the time, you know how to comfort, but you don’t dare to put that effort into the present. When someone is going through a hard time, just acknowledging it brings them comfort instantly, so when a friend is in distress, I write little notes for them, which seem like little letters of me acknowledging their own struggles that I have noticed. What you have to do is, you need to bring a better mirror in front of them, where you can show them their impact in your life, or how much they have made wonderful progress that went unnoticed.

To show appreciation is to make them believe in the things they want to see for themselves.

Sometimes it may seem like reminding them that they have legs, because they do forget what it might be like to run around. You need to show them and remind them of their assets, that’s a potential in slumber.

To the people who barely know what to say, I think this is a way you can start small because I do believe making a step forward is hard and can be really overwhelming. So, don’t push yourself to do something because your genuineness will show in one way or another.

Your little tries to make someone's day better is never in vain because what you do is trying your best after all.
